Open a ‘Details’ page of a recent flagman template, and your jaw will drop. You’ll see a huge list of different features that make this template an outstanding product that pushes the boundaries of web-design. The smashing hits, such as Monstroid2 and Divi3, are hard to compare, as each of them sкtikes you by its awesomeness. So, it’s hard to tell, which one is better, until you jot down their features and compare them one by one. In this article I’m comparing the features of Monstroid2 vs Divi3 in order to determine, which one has more to it and can win this battle. Let’s start!
Monstroid2 theme became a true explosion this winter and took the Monstroid concept up a notch, making the theme easier to customize and even more user-friendly. TemplateMonster team spent almost a year re-thinking the concept of the all-in-one template and opening new boundaries with GPL. Learn more about the ideas behind Monstroid2 from this video:
Divi3 theme became the long-awaited re-incarnation of Divi theme by Elegant Themes. The team spent three month developing this awesome theme and devised a template with comprehensive visual editor that works at site’s frontend. Check out this fun video about Divi3:
Now, let’s start our Monstroid2 vs Divi3 battle and compare the main features of these themes one by one:
#1: Installing It
Installation is your start, and I bet you want it to be fast, simple and hustle-free. Monstroid2 team thought over this issue and developed an Installation Wizard that guides you through this process and does all the work for you. So, you just have to run the Wizard from your WordPress dashboard and follow the simple steps it offers.
Divi3 team was not that inventive in this regard. Divi theme installs like a regular WordPress theme: first you install and activate the theme, than you go for plugins and sample content. If you have some experience installing custom themes on WordPress, you’ll cope fast, but if you haven’t, you can miss something and get stuck for some time (I hope you don’t).
#2: Using It for Different Websites
What makes both Divi3 and Monstroid2 so special is that both themes come under non-restrictive GPL license and have a number of prebuilt skins. You can install these themes on different websites and use them as many times as you wish. Skins come handy: you can use different pre-made designs to power websites for different branches of industry.
Monstroid2 theme has 10+ prebuilt skins with conceptually different designs and additional skin-related functionality:
Divi3 is also after making you happy with 20+ prebuilt skins. What’s more, you’ll get access to 88+ Divi3-compatible themes after purchasing the annual plan for $89.
#3: Editing in Visual Mode
Whether the template comes with visual editor or not often determines its popularity. Monstroid2 and Divi3 are the themes that never make you dig into their code and invite you to edit what you see on your website with visual editors. Power Builder visual editor, which comes with Monstroid2, lets you customize the layout, imagery and style of every page of your website and fill it with content of different types, including widgets.
Divi3 proudly boasts of its Divi Builder, the most attractive asset of the theme. With it, you can start editing every website element at the site’s frontend and use 46 prebuilt content modules to diversify your site’s content.
#4: Rich Plugin Sets
The breathtaking functionality of these all-in-one templates is powered by prebuilt premium plugins (that you get free with the themes). Monstroid2 comes with 20+ feature-rich plugins that take literary every element of your website up a notch. They account for advanced visual effects of the theme, stunning filterable gallery, prebuilt e-commerce functionality, quick color scheme changes, etc.
Quite disappointingly, Divi3 template comes with just 6 prebuilt plugins. These plugins take care of such important website functionality as newsletter subscription, social integration, display on small screens and maintenance mode. If you want some other plugins, you’ll have to go for free/paid third-party plugins available at WordPress plugin market.
#6: Support and Documentation
No doubt, both themes are well-documented. However, you may still run into issues that will slow down your project implementation. Monstroid2 theme comes with a lifetime free chat/phone support, which is available 24/7 and has multiple positive reviews. The representatives of support will readily provide you with necessary additional step-by-step guidance and even check out the issue on your website.
Divi3 team does not prioritize high quality support. If you are stuck customizing Divi3, you’ll have to resort to asking a question at Elegant Themes forum.
Monstrind2 and Divi3 have quite different pricing policies. For Monstroid2, you pay $79 once and the theme is yours for a lifetime. I find this straightforward policy (and the price) just awesome.
If you want to pay for Divi3 just once, you’ll have to spend as much as $249. Alternatively, you can pay for Divi3 on a yearly basis, spending $89 each ear on it.
